"Never Forgotten"
As I scroll through my photos on my phone,
I’m transported back to basketball season
and my end of season party.
I smile at the snap of my team receiving carnations,
the whole team posing with our parents,
and Abby and I standing side-by-side gripping the first place plaque.
I laugh at the pictures of Mary, Riley, Sara, Abby,
and the rest of of my team screaming,
jumping up and down,
and pumping our fists in the air
in delight of an undefeated season.
I gaze at the image of my teammates kneeling
in front of the bulldog with the plaque,
arms laced around each other,
holding up a number one.
I flip through all the photos one last time,
glad that the moment of victory and joy
of an undefeated season was captured.
Glad that the moment of celebrating
with my friends will never be forgotten.
