Mustard Yellow Socks
For my 16th birthday, I received a pair of my mom’s favorite mustard yellow socks. They were hideous! They felt worn and itchy and smelled of bleach and cigar smoke. I threw them away. Next Christmas, I unwrapped the only box under the lit tree and there they sit, those ugly, fuzzy socks.
