Monotonous Days
Trudge through lifetimes, then forget
My mind holds nothing.

This haiku was written to describe an inability to focus when faced with repetition. I find finishing tasks, following conversations, and staying undistracted for an extended length of time to be next to impossible, and if I don't catch myself in time to tune back in, I am often unable to recall what I was supposed to be doing in the first place. It is because of this that when I try to look back on my life, I find that many of my memories are too blurred to trust.
As so many studies have concluded that witness accounts are unreliable, I assume that this clouding is a universal experience.
This poem is told from the perspective of someone attempting to reflect on their past, but quickly realizing that the details have become too fuzzy to recall. It means to express a feeling of being calm, even bored, but becoming panicked as a sudden realization hits - like the moment that you realize you've been daydreaming in class and missed what your teacher was saying.
