Rearview Mirror
The roads by your house
Bring back thoughts of me and you
And force me to remember
Everything you put me through
You took the best of me
Stole the light behind my smile
Showed me how cruel love could be
And tossed my heart into your pile
As I drive past your street
The tears begin to fall
And I wonder who I’d be
If we had never met at all
Memories flow through my mind
Like a river, running wild
They sneak up from behind
With no escape, my thoughts defiled
In the safety of my car
I let my mind run free
I wonder how, and where you are
And if you ever think of me
The good and the bad
We’ve been through it all
You’re the best (and worst) I’ve had
You showed me how hard I could fall
But it’s time to put away the past
There’s nothing to be said
I must ignore the rearview mirror
And look to what’s ahead
