Easy to be Happy
They tell me it's a choice,
a tawdry trade
to dare to voice
this complaint I'd made.
They tell me it's false,
a big mistake
to heed these calls
my mind can't shake.
They say I'm absurd
to even think
of such meaningful words
and create a link.
They say what I feel
this dark, gaping numbness
is just ingratitude to what is real –
that I am just careless.
And I don't know
who to believe.
but either I go,
or I have them leave.
