You own everything that happened to you. Tell your stories. If people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should've behaved better. -Anne Lamott, from Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life.

World of words lost on the living
I take my place with the walking dead
Robbed of my voice I’m always giving
Thousands of words to this nameless dread

My head is cold and my heart is wanting
For something other than loss of time
My lips won’t form the words
I’m dying to search the eyes of the hopeless for

I run, I scream but no one see’s
The crime of love behind the scenes
The private work of my own dreaming
Lost in my mind and out at sea

The truth, the lies are all confiding
They’re breaking out and setting free
Loosing myself in my own thoughts
Rotting my heart out, straining to be

The day, that I fade,
Disappear, for make believe
Is the day that he will come for me
But you can’t see

I run, I scream but no one see’s
The crime of love behind the scenes
The private work of my own dreaming
Lost in my mind and out at sea
I run, I scream but no one see’s
The crime of love behind the scenes
The private work of my own dreaming
Lost in my mind and out at sea

Lost in my mind never to see
Lost in my own mind
