What We Could've Been
I remember the day I first met you, saw you, and dazed in your eyes.
I remember when I heard your voice; my stomach would ache for your love
I still can see the love that I can’t let go of because it was too strong
For me to even let go of you no matter how far apart we still are.
I can’t wait to see you again and ask you
Did you really care ‘bout what we could’ve been?
Did you really seem to think we should’ve kissed?
But now my life is tearing apart because
We can’t be what I’ve dreamed of through my heart
And now I have to move on and never look back at what we could’ve been
My heart aches to hear your voice still.
I’m longing just to be wrapped in your arms one last time
To feel what it was like to be loved.
I still have fantasies about you and me,
Even though they will never come true.
Because you are so far away and I can’t even ask you
Did you really care ‘bout what we could’ve been?
Did you really seem to think we should’ve kissed?
But now my life is tearing apart because
We can’t be what I’ve dreamed of through my heart
And now I have to move on and never look back at what we could’ve been
Did you really see the glow that your love gave me?
I wish you really can see the darkness in my heart that is from you
Now I have to move on and never look back at what we could’ve been
What we could’ve been is such a mystery
I only have fantasies about you and me-
What we could’ve been
What we should’ve been
If we hadn’t been so apart
Now it’s a year later
I’m standing in front of you
Looking into your blue eyes and asking you:
If you really love me, you’d still care about what we could’ve been
When we should’ve kissed
But now I’m telling you that it’s not okay because
My dreams of being loved have shattered and now
You just have to face the fact that we could’ve been
Perfect, not worthless, like Romeo and Juliet, or Cinderella and Prince Charming
And now we have to realize that this is what we could’ve been
