We're Rain Lost in the Ground
Pull the curtains over the blazing light
Close the door to the burning sight
We’re like the leaves blown by the wind
We’re like rain lost in the ground
Although the times keep coming
They don’t keep me awake
You have given up your days
And this is the only place I can forget
You’re the only one I can’t regret
And although you fade into the mist
I still hold on, I hold on
The moon shines on my face
Like white gold dripped on my skin
I wait to see your eyes in its glow
I wait and I wait alone
But I cannot fall or walk away
I can never leave
You stole my heart
It wasn’t fair
To leave a hole in my chest
With your voice echoed inside
Lay the blighted petals on the floor
It’s hard to say that we’re no more
We’re like the leaves blown by the wind
We’re like rain lost in the ground
Although the times keep coming
They don’t keep me awake
You have given up your days
And this is the only place I can forget
You’re the only one I can’t regret
And although you fade into the mist
I still hold on, I hold on
I look but you’re not in this room
Or in the moon or stars
Not in my mind anymore
I can’t find you in my heart
I search but you’re not in the song I sing
Or in the notes or melody
Not in my eyes anymore
I don’t smell you in the air
But when I stand still out after it’s rained
I see your face
Your eyes and lips
I smell your sent
After it’s rained
Out in the mist
Let the rain fall down wherever I am
I’m never alone in the rain outside
We’re like the leaves blown by the wind
We’re like rain lost in the ground
Although the times keep coming
They don’t keep me awake
You have given up your days
And this is the only place I can forget
You’re the only one I can’t regret
And although you fade into the mist
I still hold on, I hold on
