Children playing on a radiant day
People reading their myriad of novels in a cafe
Movie stars filming on set
High rollers placing their bets
Maybe I’m not meant for it...
... Maybe I’m not meant for it
Almost all the time I wish I could care just a bit
Always tired like I’m always standing, never getting a chance to sit
I just wish I could give a s***...
... But maybe I’m not meant for it...

Media buffs watching sitcoms with dedication
Bargain shopping hobby-goers buying antiques to add to their collection
Video game fanatics mashing buttons on their controllers with determination
Conscientious students striving their just education
Don’t we all just want... perfection?
Alas, maybe I’m not meant for it
Maybe I’m not meant for it
Oh, I yearn for the days when I loved it all
The big and the small
The spring and the fall
Just a blissfully young boy ... bouncing a ball
I just wish I could give a s***... again
... But maybe I’m not meant for it...

Will I ever know what’s it like again--
--to have a merry time with a friend--
--without feeling sorrow and pain at its end
Can’t I just be happy? [Some of the time--not always]
Have some goddamn balance
Could I just have greatness?
And have others raise their chalice in my name
I fear it’ll never be the same...
... Because I guess... I’m just not meant for it, after all, or at all
I’m meant for nothing at all

The author's comments:
I'd like to think this piece empathizes with those who've ever felt like they're worthless for not every reason out there obviously, but a handful, to say the least.
This is a reminder you're not alone on how you feel; hope is always there to help you if you really want greatness, though.
