“There is no exquisite beauty… without some strangeness in the proportion.”
E. A. Poe

Well, she won't leave this night alone,
And she won´t sleep at all.
The sun was set, leaving a room of shadows.
Feeling worthless,
The pain ached in my wrist; it was becoming too much.
Self Destruction.
The blade was sharp in contrast to my skin.
All the sorrow that she takes out on herself.
Gripping my arm, I breathed in my pain.
And we'll find that inside,
My heart sputters, my brain throbs.
That she’s a broken heart,
You are nothing! I’m filled with sorrow.
That anyone could save.
The blade screams; but it’s not here to help me.
It's alright!
My teeth create friction; my throat closes.
Remember hope!
My breathing stops; tears kissed my cheeks,
Remember hope!
Then I breathe out; looking at the scars
Hold onto hope!
I put down the blade.
It’s alright!

This piece is a flashback poem based on the song by Helio. I have been a self harm survivor so this piece was a way to express my thoughts.
