Vendors selling,
People yelling,
The streets are alive once more.

Cell phones ringing
Students dreaming
Many opportunities are in store.

Sirens wailing
Big ships sailing
Watching the statue in the bay.

Money spending
Postcard sending
Gee I wish I could stay.

Well, I must say I love your poem! I've lived in NY my whole life and you've captured this NY spirit so wonderfully.

I LOVE this! It makes me want to just spend a day in New York and people watch and observe everything.

While I was reading this poem, I could easily picture New York City, even without reading the title. I was impressed by how well you described what you see, or even think of, when you are in New York, or just hearing of the place. When you said "Watching the statue in the bay," I pictured someone sitting on a park bench in New York, just staring at the Statue of Liberty as the sun sets. Also, when you say, "Vendors selling, People yelling, The streets are alive once more," it reminds me of almost every movie that takes place in New York City. People are always rushing and yelling, and vendors are always, always selling materials. I really enjoyed the way your poem had a unique flow. I also liked how you implied you were only on a vacation, when you said, "Gee I wish I could stay." You did a fantastic job, and I hope you write more.
