Enlightenment
I remember you back then when we were young,
Nothing could come in between our unbreakable Amity.
Now that we’re older our songs have been sung,
We parted ways and not fought this enmity,
I never thought that you and I would share something this bleak,
This is not what I hoped to find when I set out to seek,
You’ve gone away and I’ve held my tongue,
From an apology, of a scourged amity,
I’m screaming you’re name in whispers in my lungs,
I’m praying to keep my sanity,
Because this dissolution makes me weak,
I speak these words which I never wanted to speak,
And I hope another time comes when I can see,
The lights that enlighten me.
