“They take away your shoelaces and your belt so you can't kill yourself no matter how bad it is. …” That is one of the many good quotes in Monster, by Walter Dean Myers, that makes me think to myself “what could they be in the middle of saying here? Like what could possibly be happening in the story at this point in time?” Monster is a great piece of realistic fiction, it seems like it could be so real you get attached to the characters and start to feel for them. Like Steve, for instance, is the protagonist and a dynamic character who you learn a lot about and follow throughout the book. It also takes place between a court session and the jail, where the conflict is person versus society in the jail, and it’s person versus self where Steve Harmon, the protagonist of the story fights himself over the matter of, is he really innocent like he says he is. It's even written like a movie would be, it is a script, and a good one for that matter.

I really like how Myers made a very engaging script where you will always want to keep reading, and will not want to put the book down. I can tell you from personal experience, you are always on the edge of your seat waiting to see what will happen next. I recommend this book to anyone probably 6th grade and up, just because it has some big words and crime scenes. If you want to find out what's happening in Monster, by Walter Dean Myers, then you should read the book yourself.
