The Perks of Being a wallflower can be whatever you want to call it, it can be amazing, boring or exciting. But in my opinion, it is the best book ever; It is empowering and creates an image that is just beautiful. Its characterization is very creative, the way the author puts a youth and old teens as the main characters is a good idea because when you're young is when you go through the most trouble, love, and the best memories. "Please don't try to figure out who she is because then you might figure out who I am, and I really don't want you to find me” (Chbosky 2).This just says that he needs someone to listen to him because he doesn't have anyone to tell what he's going through. There are some past experiences that he went through before starting high school that makes him very unique and make the story of his life stand out of other teens.

The theme is not just your average problem and solution and sad to happy. This book theme is meant to be deep and powerful to the minds of adults and teenagers. Charlie may severe from depression but that just helps the story feel more real. The quote that really caught my attention was in the last letter of the first part that reads "And in that moment, I swear we were infinite" (Chbosky 39). This ties along with the mood and the overall message of the book. It signifies that you need to live your life to the fullest no matter what someone else says or does, don't let them stop you, that whatever you are doing, live in that moment because you won't always have it when you're older. I would highly recommend this book to everyone because some teens feel alone and this book is just a reminder that being alone is something that everyone feels.
