To kill a mockingbird movie review: A classic adaptation of Lee's Pulitzer prize winning novel.

Atticus Finch( Gregory Peck) is a widowed lawyer and father of two young children- Scout and Jem. Peck delivers a career best performance as a white liberal lawyer who defends a black man falsely accused of raping a white woman. Most of the action takes place in the courtroom with Atticus's scathing closing remarks and Tom Robbins (Brock Peters) tearful testimony which is the one of the few scenes in the movie that gives the audience an insight into the black lives at that time.

This movie was released at a time when the civil rights movement was gaining momentum. Yet most of the black actors are reduced to props in the background. In the end this movie is about a white liberal man and his perspective regarding the oppression of black people in America
