In Treatment
The HBO Series "In Treatment" is a wonderfully intelligent and intense program centering around a psychotherapist and his patients. Gabriel Byrne gives a superb performance as Paul Weston, a psychotherapist running a private practice. Paul has a myriad of clients, from brilliant adolescent girls, to white-haired male executive types, to middle-aged military cast-offs. An episode typically consists of one of Paul's sessions, either with a patient of his or with his psychotherapist (played by Diane Wiest). Despite the fact that an entire episode usually takes place within one room and two characters, the series is full of unexpected plot twists and fascinating dialogue. It is an excellent show for anyone to watch, especially an aspiring psychologist.
