Selling Sunset Review
Two men and twelve women, constant fights and fierce competition within the housing market—all of which makes up Selling Sunset, a 2019 hit reality TV show.
The main women that are currently in the show are Amanza, Chriselle, Mary, Bree, Emma, Heather, Chelsea, and Nicole. Usually in the episodes the women tend to dress as if they are going to a red carpet event, just to go into their office or show a house, which also brings interest to the show from men and women. Men are interested in the business side that usually comes about, not to mention the glamorous and beautiful women. While the women viewers usually just like the show all around, it is a little bit of fashion, drama, and big houses!
Jason and Bret are twin brothers that run the business, The Oppenheim Group. This group consists of the many women who are realtors for the company. Although they are very successful it is very difficult for them to keep peace within their office. This show mainly consists of fights that are very comparable to a Housewives Show. The fights are what I would compare to the jungle, different animals trying to survive and even fighting off others to survive. For instance one of the worst fights within the show was in season 5 between Chriselle and Christine. Their fight continued for the main portion of season 5, but the only way it would be resolved was for one of them to leave the office. As new people come into the office every season, there is still the fight to be the best realtor amongst the many others, along with getting involved in drama.
These women have no brakes when it comes to what they bring up or what they bring to the table and try to defend. Some women on the show decide to be vulnerable with each other, but it just tends to bite them in their sides. For example in the newly released season one of the girls, Chelsea, got too involved in the new realtor Bree’s home life. This fight escalated from good to bad to ugly throughout the whole season. It ended up causing more harm to Chelsea's personality in the office, just because of how poor her judgment calls were on Bree. Another fight that lasted throughout most of the 7th season as well ended up being between Chriselle and Nicole. There fight was about how Chriselle was getting most of the credit for listings that Nicole should have primarily gotten the full credit for. All in all these women then took it to the next level of trying to make eachother look like a worse person than the other, whether that is drug allegations or even mean girl comments. Either way the drama throughout this show is never ending and that is what keep most of the viewers intrigued in the show.
There is really no trust within this show, but it is what makes it entertaining. I would compare this show to the Kardashians, with a side of business. The Kardashians have issues that are often related to both personality issues and friendship issues within sisters, and this is the same for Selling Sunset, because they have the same issues just with fellow co-workers. Both shows project the thought of having “the life”, but still not liking it. Which is a way that both shows lure in their viewers , building curiosities towards the different diverse watchers.
Many people have agreed that this show can be a good disconnect from a long day, because it’s not relatable or heart clinching in any way. Personally, I would have to agree. This show is a great disconnect from reality to most and helps me get my mind off of a long day and instead on some ladies fighting about realtor or friendship issues.
All in all I would recommend this show to fellow watchers of reality TV shows like, The Kardashians, Real Housewives, and maybe even the Bachelor. This show is a good disconnect from personal drama and a brain getaway that some would find entertaining.
