Anger Management
“Why? Why me?” Rickie exclaimed as he shattered the vintage vase off the wall. As the old black and white razor sharp pieces rain from above, so did his tears as he sunk into the couch thinking of why not me and why my wife. After he ran out of tears anger started to build up of his wife's death he could barely walk a step before clenching his fist as if he was going to punch someone. To go blow off some steam he grabbed his wallet and stumbled out the door. Making his way towards the liquor barn he sobbed in pain as his shoes scraped on the ground the door slide open.
“Hey Rickie,” the manager exclaimed. Rickie gave the manager Zach, a mean look and said i'm not in the mood. Zach shot back a puzzled look and said,
“ What do you mean bub? Life’s great,” as he took another drink of his brown-bagged bud light. Rickie slammed the glass door as he struggled to pull out the 12 case of beer, and broke down in tears. Zach set his drink down and said
“Are you alright man?” As the smell of beer flew out of Zach’s mouth he said,
“Listen bud, you can tell me anything.”
“She died man,” Rickie said as his knees dropped to the ground and Zach leaned in to comfort him. After he ran out of tears he shoved Zach off of him and threw a 20 dollar bill on the floor and disappeared into the streets of Fort Morgan.
After he drank himself to sleep he woke up with a bad headache and in a bad mood. When he finally convinced himself to get out of bed, he slung open the curtains and sighed at the grey clouds that covered the dark blue sea. As he took his usual morning walk on the white powdery sand, his heart dropped as he saw couples walk and laugh and comfort each other while taking a stroll on the beach. To try to keep his mind off the negative things he turned the other way and gazed at the kids burying each other and playing in the sand. Then the thought of taking these kids joy away came to mind just like his wife’s death took his. As he sped up to pass all the other couples the thought kept on coming to his mind, if I take their joy and happiness away maybe just maybe they would feel my pain. That thought stayed with him throughout the walk and until he got home. Once he got home he brushed the sand off of his feet and sat on the sofa. Contemplating on the idea he thought what good does it do to think why don’t I do it. So he hopped up and went over to the kitchen and grabbed his chefs knife which was hidden on the top of the refrigerator. Then headed out the door with the knife tucked back in his sleeve. Once he started his walk a little voice told him that what he is about to do is wrong and that he should turn around and that there are better ways to blow off steam. But that thought got shoved aside as his walk soon turned into a run. The thrill of hurting others gave him so much energy he did not know what to do with it. Once he got to the beach he saw a small child guessing Rickie thought he was just about 7 years old. Once the kid got out into sea Rickie knew that if he was going to do anything it would have to be now. So he threw his shirt off and acted like he was just another 35 year old man going for a swim. Once he got into the water he paddled out and got closer to the kid. He slowly took the knife out of his short pocket which was shredded and went under the water searching for the little kid’s feet. The kid didn't even notice that Rickie was in the water all he cared about was dodging waves with his older brother.
Soon the little kid disappeared his older brother just thinking “I bet that twerp got knocked out by a wave again”. As the little boy did not appear back the older brother got worried so he took a good look around and found nothing. So he figured that his little brother went back to shore to get the salt out of his eyes. So he called “Samuel where are you”. There was no response the only thing that changed was the color of the water. The older brother’s jaw dropped as the blue calm sea soon turned into a sea of red. The older brother yelled “Samuel where are you” once again.
Then the older brother soon notice what was happening his brother has gotten eaten by a shark.Once Rickie he got back to shore, there were ambulances and divers in search for a little kid named Samuel that reportedly got bitten by a shark. Soon a reporter ran up to Rickie and ask him“Sir did you see this tragic event happen?”, Rickie responded with a puzzled look and said “No but I send prayers to their family and friends.''Rickie felt guilty as he walked away from the ‘tragic shark scene’ that he caused. That next day Rickie woke up and turned on the TV which was on Fort Morgan 37 news. The headline that morning was “Mother speaks out about her terrible son’s death”. Once the mother started to speak the guilt came back and haunted Rickie. He started to think about what the mother has gone through, then Rickie did what nobody would ever do.
He took his wallet and made sure his ID was in there and slipped on a pair of shoes and started to walk closer to the downtown area. Once he got to his destination he said “I did it”. The officer stared at him and chuckled and said,
“ Let me guess this is another prank.” Rickie started to cry and he replied
“I wish it was.” Then the officer gave him a puzzled look and said,
“What did you do?” With a smirk on his face Rickie coughed trying to clear his throat as he said “I killed him”. The officers voice and tone soon turned more serious and he said,
“Killed who Mr.?” Rickie replied,
“The little boy you know the tragic shark scene death”. The officer came out from the bulletproof glass he was hiding behind. He put his hand on his gun as if he was going to have to shoot somebody. Then moved his hands toward his back right pocket and grabbed his hand cuffs he exclaimed,
“Sir you are being detained!” Rickie put up no fight and turned around and put his hands behind his back and whispered to himself,
“God please forgive me”.
