The brief moment of sitting by herself she realized,
they weren’t coming back and she should have known.
Who were these people to her anyway?
The abandoned swingset creaked slightly caused by the wind, the dewy grass leaves watermarks against her jeans where she was kneeling for what seemed to be forever.
A chill crawls down her back and that is the moment she truly felt alone.

I love that you chose to put this under prose rather than poetry. It makes the reader think about it differently. The whole piece is beautiful, especially the image of the swing set.
