Once upon a time there was a kid named Matt who was 21.He lives with his mother so he can save up his career money for a house. One day he came home from a burger joint he was hanging out with his friends at and the mailbox had mail in it, so he grabbed the mail and went in to the house. When he got in he kicked off his shoes, threw the mail on the counter and hung up his coat.

A few hours later his mom got home from hanging out with the ladies. When she got in she thanked Matt for bringing in the mail. About thirty seconds later the sound of mail crunching and being thrown out his mom said “Mail for you!”. He came from the living room and took it out of her hand and opened it. Inside there was a letter saying “he was drafted into the army” and that he “needed to be there next week”.  He did not feel good to say the least.

(One week later) after he packed what the letter said, he needed Matt said goodbye to his mom. After getting there he set everything up to his liking and the next thing they had was dinner they had pulled pork for dinner and then it was nighttime. Matt did not get any sleep that night as he was nervous for training tomorrow.

The next day he and some others were trained how to do marching. They day after that they learned how to shoot and then the next day they learned survival skills this whole process took 2 weeks before they moved onto the next stage. The next stage was the exact same thing except they had to do all of it without mistakes and they were also getting yelled at. Matt really wanted this to be over already but he had just started.

After everything he did to get ready he was ready to fight in this war the first war he was fighting in was the battle of lexington and concord. At dawn on April 19 1775, 700 British troops arrived in Lexington and came upon 77 militiamen gathered in Middlesex county and after the war eight militiamen lay dead while only one redcoat was injured.

Now skip a long time and on June 17, some 2,200 British forces under the command of Major General William Howe and Brigadier General Robert Pigot landed on the Charlestown Peninsula then marched to Breed’s Hill. As the British came close in columns against the Americans, Prescott, to help conserve ammunition, reportedly told his men, “Don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes” When the Redcoats were within several dozen yards, the Americans fired.

The Result: The british had won the battle of bunker hill Additionally, the high price of victory at the Battle of Bunker Hill made the British realize that the war with the colonies would be long, tough and costly.

These two battles really shook matt up as he saw some members die but he said ¨The next battle will be the last for me” he was going to quit after the next battle.

The battle of Quebec, Matt's last battle: It was a cold December morning when the American forces came to Quebec with snowfall on December 31. The British  were ready, however, and when Montgomery’s forces approached the fortified city, the British opened fire. Montgomery was killed in the first assault, and after several more attempts at penetrating Quebec’s defenses, his men were forced to retreat. After the defeat at Quebec, the Patriots remained outside the city with the help of additional supplies and reinforcements with the arrival of a British fleet at Quebec in May 1776, the Americans retreated from the area.

After the 3 battles Matt was let out of the army, he was really lucky to not get hurt and when his mom saw him she was really glad. Matt didn't know why they let him out so early but he was grateful to not have a scratch.

And that is the story of how Matt got into the army for a short time.
