All I Want
All I want is to see him
Take her in his arms
Wrap his fingers gently
Around her hips
And kiss her softly
On the lips.
All I want is my every
Dream and illusion of him
to catch fire and burn
Into a million little
Ashes
So that I may never
Remember that
Feeling again.
The feeling of
Unworthiness and
Heartbreak.
All I want
Is to forget how
His eyes stung mine
Forget how his
Hair shined under the
School’s fluorescent lights
Forget how my
Heart thudded faster than
A hummingbird’s eager wings
Whenever he passed
By with a smirk on his face.
All I want
Is to forget his name
And every little detail of him.
All I want
Is to look at boots and not
Think of him
All I want
Is to listen to a song and not
Remember him
All I want
Is to leave that boy-crazy
Middle schooler behind
And forget that
Rejection exists.
That’s all I want.
Is that too much to ask?
