Was, Am and Wants
I was from a single family home, home to one, single family.
From dancing to the Wiggles like I was a body with no bones.
I was from walking around in a diaper—only a diaper.
From hugs and kisses, never spanks and soap.
I was from the screams of people, but never directed at me.
I am from a single family home, now two instead of one.
From the strict rule follower home, but also from the laid back home.
I am from two story wonders, now also adapted to apartment style living.
From the way my family isn’t together, but also from a family that loves me, together.
I am from, “ask your mom” to “ask your dad.”
I want to be from a single family home, one, single family home.
From where home is close, but far enough away.
I want to be from the summery air that lasts year long.
From where memories and laughter are not one without the other.
I want to be from the family nights—the nights we spend, together.
