"though I may be going down, I'm taking flame over burning out" -sara bareilles, uncharted

the sky turns gray

as you descend from above

drenching the world with your tears

the wind cries out in pain

the trees bow down

as the thunder howls

and the lightning is the only light to be found

everyone takes shelter inside

for your sadness causes too much pain to bear

the windowpanes and tree branches

shed a few tears

like morning dew

and the world comes crashing down with you

and for you

and for something we don’t quite understand

as we attend joy’s funeral

The author's comments:

This metaphorical poem is about loss and how it is always a part of us. I named it "joy's funeral" because it's a feeling that happiness is gone and you just let the rain fall.
