Shadows

The shadows that are there

The ones you cannot see

The shadow that is here

The ones that belong to me

Their faint voices in my ear

The chill that’s in my bones

Shadows join every year

In shades of darkly colored tones

They don’t hurt me but they haunt me

Following me everywhere

Seeing everything I see

With their ghostly stare

I wrote this year's ago when I was in 7th grade. The proceeding year, I tried to end my life. I then learned I had MDD. One day I went and reread poems I had written. I read this one and realized little me was trying to call out for help in a way.
