The Flapping of birds in the sky
The last lick of the cherry Popsicle
The sun beats down hard on the sand
Surprised, the visitors burn their feet
And run to the cool water
Splashing playfully, the children laugh
The parents mildly aware
Laying back to color their tans
The girl sits bored and unamused
Until she spots the male lifeguard
Thank God for summer vacation.
