Maybe all your scars
Hold the stories
That piece yor life together

Like that moon shaped one on your thumb
From a cookie cutter facing the wrong way
On the day your family made holiday treats
To put on the table for Santa

Or the faint one on your ankle
From the very first time you shaved your legs
Not having a clue to how you do it
But you just wanted to grow up

Maybe the recent, pulsing, red one on your chin
From being shoved into an open locker
Representing a taste of your everyday life
Filled with a ton of cruel, murderous teenagers

How about the tiny one on your forehead
When you stupidly ran right into a tree
And even though it hurt pretty bad
You couldn't help but laugh along with everyone else

Maybe it's the long line down your arm
From when you purposefully cut yourself
For the first, and last time
In your teenage life of pain and misery

Or maybe it's the most noticable one
That everybody asks you about
But you can never seem to remember
Where it came from or when it happened

All these scars hold a story, your story
And these little reminders show you
That there are some things
You just shouldn't be allowed
To forget.

I was thinking about all the people in the world, and all their scars...and what kind of stories could come from them
