Dancing
Dance steps and dolls made up our childhood
 Delicate, poised, gentle
Bouncy curls and sweet smiles and laughter

Pencils and playgrounds grew me a bit older
Maybe just a little bit colder, but we were
Still happy, still bright, still young

Then questions and passion flipped me upside down
I ran and I cried and I danced
 Without dance steps
 Danced without pattern
 And
It was beautiful but I was dancing away from you

Memories and musings are now my solace
 Pretty, fading, sad
I would give anything to dance again

Yes, I would give anything to dance again
 With you
