Memories
I have to sever the ties
 And say my goodbyes
 To the memories
 Of you and me
Because you being on my mournful mind
 Is unhealthy. I find
Pieces of you wherever I may be
In my room or by the sea
Remember when we went to the beach together
We dance in front of my mother
And laughed until we couldn’t breath
Then took a long walk in the cool ocean breeze
The sand shifted between our toes
And gave way beneath our feet
 I didn’t know
That I would once again meet
That same feeling after you left me
But now I’m standing on shifting sand
 I need your hand
To pull me back onto solid ground
But instead of your grasp I found
Bitterness and blindness to my hopeful pleas
Now I’ve dropped to my knees
And in the sand, the sea engulfs me
