"Live as if your dying"

I feel the way I do
When I'm with you.
Nothing else matters
I try to sleep at night
but all I can think of
is you being in that fight
I long for your embrace
As I try to picture your face
But all I can see is empty space
I long for you
your scent
your charm
your smile
and your arms,
Why did they take you from me
They say it's what's right
They told me not to fight
But how can I help it
When all I can see is you in a helmet
Thousands of miles away
Trudging through that dark gray ash
with a sash
across your chest
I know its what's best
you say it's the only way to protect me
and that you have to save the rest
But how can you save all of them
when you cant even save your own head
They called me in
I saw your tag
and your bag
I had to identify
I couldnt even stand the site
they told me I had to try
They lifted the sheet
It was you
All I saw was your spine
to your feet
I said it was you
and left the room
how could it be
one day your right in front of me
saying you'd be back soon
i didnt know that was the last time I'd see your face
Now your being carried away
I watched as they placed you inside the cold hard ground
it wasnt your time
but just know you will forever be mine
