The Lights In the Midnight
The stars brilliantly shine in the sky
 As I hoped
 That you and I
 Would someday.

We both prefer the twinkling lights
 To the lofty, confident moon
 But I can’t stand this ever-present night
 Which has settled around me.

The orbs of brightness are fading
Into the blackness of the universe
 As I am waiting
For the return of the sun.

I try to rest my head
 Wish for peaceful sleep
Instead I toss and turn in bed
Hoping for a message that may never come.

 Finally my dreams find me
 And I am whisked away
To a place where hope grows in the trees
Where love swims in the seas.

 To a mystical, fairytale land
 Where days would never end
And we would run hand in hand
 Towards the glowing sunset.

To a faraway island where the lights in the midnight shine for us
And time together could actually be enough.
