Martin Luther King J.R.: A Day Given to a Saint like You
As I write with knowledge of black and white entwined in one,
There is a man who bestows a great honor for what has been done.
No slaves, a law fell upon thy hallow time,
But discrimination and segregation came masked behind man’s sinful grime.
As a child you endured such agony and pain,
Giving up your seat on the bus, out of force was inhumane.
So you had a dream; a dream to bring segregation down,
So that all different colors could come together as one town.
You fought for these rights, one voice speaking out,
Until you formed followers who all gave a shout.
You dream was large,
As your words took charge.
Your voice was the melody of a song,
That would soon tear down this barrier, which did not belong.
Your voice blew like a storm and went on with a thrust,
Until two colors could come as one, with the true test of lust.
Your dream soon came true
And the Nobel Peace Prize was your pursue.
But alas you died, a saint killed by man’s sin,
So to this day we celebrate from our hearts within
How thankful we are to be free all in all,
And to never again be separated from our brothers of different colors by a horrid wall.
You defined life as something new,
So Martin Luther King J.R. we give a day to you.
