The Candle on The Stove
The sun has just set
Another Sunday is coming to an end
Everyone is inside relaxing
Before another week begins again.
Every dish has been washed
Every tile has been scrubbed
My mom lights a candle on the stove
To mark that the kitchen is done.
Nothing is out of place
Not a piece of dust in sight
The only light in the kitchen
Is the glow of the candle’s flame.
The candle on the stove
Marks the end of a long week,
The beginning of another one
And reminds us that some things
Will always be there,
Like the candle on the stove.
