The Only Constant
The fallen leaves crunch softly beneath the
Naked feet, wet with the steady rain that
 Harbors the approaching darkness, ever-
Present, enveloping the sunny day. Sunny days are few and increasingly
Far between here in the subconscious mind
After the realization that the love
Shouldn’t control one’s life forever but
Still wishing love will come to blow away
The storm clouds that gather on the very
Outskirts, threatening to burst the tiny
Bubble of happiness felt only when That special someone is so very near
Yet still so very far away from them
Always close but never quite touching you
Always looking but never seeing quite
As clear as they should be. Sitting, waiting
For the day for it all to go away The pain of not touching, not seeing you
 Day in, day out.
 Pain. The only constant.
