Suffering Exposed
As I lay here
My heart pounds
As if trying to escape my chest
My body shakes
Trying to keep the pain inside
My eyes strain
Trying to keep the tears inside
My teeth dig into my lips
Trying to keep the screams inside
My hands cover my face
Trying to hide the anguish seeping through to the outside
My ears close up
Trying to keep the horrors inside
My feet clench,
My legs tense
But I fail.
In one moment
My carefully constructed walls
My prison crumbles.
My eyes leak tears,
My mouth screams,
My face shows anguish,
My body lashes out in pain,
My legs and feet are released, flailing about,
My ears open up.
I am revealed.
