Missing Sunshine
You used to be my sunshine; appearing on a rainy day,
You were a rider’s sweet comfort from the horse’s quiet bay.
You held me tight in your arms; you would never let me go,
I had nothing to fear; a long long time ago.

Back then you were my Loved One, my father, my friend,
If only I had known what I know now then.
If only I had known how quickly we would grow apart,
If only I had fathomed the future breaking of my heart.

I remember my contentment that morning in July,
As I cuddled in your arms, never thinking of goodbye.
You say you want me back, and I know that this is true.
If only I had courage to ask you what to do.

My longing for you burns like an unattended fire,
I yearn for you with every single wanting and desire.
I remember how you loved me in every perfect way,
How you used to be my sunshine appearing on a rainy day.
