Road to Heaven
Running, running
No time to stop and catch my breath
Turning back is unfathomable
You're gasping for the air you so desperately need
Your load gains wait with every step
Your chest aches and burns as if it's been set ablaze
Yet you push on.
Running, running
Up the endless hill
On your way to Heaven
But the reckless wind and the strong pull of gravity
And the draining, overpowering exhaustion
Fight against you, trying to knock you down
But not today.
If the journey wasn't rough
And the going was easy
Then anyone could get there
And the destination wouldn't be worth it.
