Footprints Left Behind
As I sit in your chair besides the lake,
I am reminded of my memories of long ago.
Me walking besides you,
Trying to keep up.
You reading me stories as I fell asleep.
But your sleep is permanent.
I wish every day for you to wake up,
But you never do.
Now you are gone,
Your footprints left behind.
You are in a better place now,
Walking alongside of Jesus .
Making new footprints,
Footprints in heaven.
