The Ways I Loved You
I see you in the way
the sun glints off the creek.
And in the way the shadows play
games of hide-and-seek;
Snaking through the trees,
Hiding in the leaves.
That is where I hear you
calling out to me.
For every time a blue bird sings,
I remember you standing next to me;
listening to the soft sweet sounds
with you hand on my back
and mine on your arm.
Our lips would touch;
our tongues entwine,
and you would lead me into the night
that befell us as it does me now.
Soft and light
then dark and loud.
Like the storm that came upon us when
you broke my heart
and left me for dead.
