Sensory Detail
my pencil led scratches against the paper
the roars of the lawnmowers creep up behind me
off in the distance i hear cars
speeding down the open road
and birds calling
flying above in that blissful blue sky
i envy those birds
for they are free and I am not
they can leave, while I remain stuck
counting down the hours, the minutes
until I am released
and become free like the birds
thought mine only last for some time,
they are forever free
but not me,
not me. not yet.
