The Cotton Plant

A cotton plant,
Contains two worlds,
Its core, a soft white heart,
Like hugging clouds,
A lush, white light of purity,
The other,
Piercing thorns that yearn for red,
Droplets of pain,
Stained black across its tips,
One fights to conceal the other’s legacy,
Clouds wrapped in stormy jealousy,
Begging to be picked.
