I've Watched The Waves
So you fell in love with the boy in black,
twirling my pencil as I sit in the back
of the class.
Never did you ask
for blue eyes. Surely not these
eyes as cold as the sea.
Because these eyes have seen
through the depths of a child’s heart,
traced an addiction,
an attraction from the start
And I know, oh I know
Of the torrents of a soul
How it rocks
how it rolls
how it flows
how it’s cold
as the sea.
Flames of young hearts I have fed.
The quickest cut draws the purest red.
I’ll rip you clean from my flesh.
Your suckers cling.
Our fibers mesh.
Beyond restriction, air is fresh.
As usual, it’s for the best.
You’ll be fine, you’ll see.
Eyes as cold as the sea.
Eyes beyond you and me
and as blue as you’ll be.
