Over Water

See the trouble before us
in the center of your eye.
I knew it all along
that it would be a tie.
I knew I was wrong
I knew you were too.
But my fear grew and grew
and it ripped us in to two.
in a moment of pure splendor like a robin sailing over water,
I saw what we were
from the beginning
to the end
just a bird over water
waiting to dive in.
