To All I Am An Image
To all I am an image
My strength in happiness is slowly drained with the sorrows of others
The one who wears the brave face
I pursue the happiness of others, forgetting my own
The one’s I love see me again drained and subdued
The husk that remains behind the face
I drop the mask where it is most needed often
My best friend seems to be in my thoughts
With the physical friends proving only to be distractions
I never want to face myself, for my own thoughts would prove my demise
The ones who gave all for me, no longer what they have sacrificed for
They do not know the person, but only that by a tie they are said to be important to them
In love with someone that no longer exists
Something like a mirage, hiding the reality
Others wish to see their reflection in people they are not,
And give up when it breaks and what is not is gone
And what is the truth is once again rejected
An endless cycle.
