I want to think you just glanced at me,
But it seems much more likely
That you're just looking around,
Or finding the source of some random sound.
I quit making wishes on eleven eleven,
Cause I know, no wish is gonna get me to heaven.
No, once you're gone, I'm left with just the memory.
The one where you smile right at me.
The picture in my head that gets my heart fluttering,
Memories that always start me smiling.
Oh, the time you laughed at a joke I told wrong,
And joined me in dancing to a silly song.
The times we had, I wish they never did end
Ha! The goodbyes I'd never have had to send!
Oh, the big smile you gave to me that day;
I will never let it slip away.
I'm okay even though you are mine no more
Ha! Your favorite color
Has become one of mine.
Since you were my sunshine.
Oh, when I'm feeling blue,
I bring back memories of you.
Ha! Just a memory,
And yet it makes me Oh so happy.
I follow the words of E.E. Cummings,
Cause they're no senseless mumblings.
I admit I must agree:
At least you used to love me.
Better than never knowing how it felt
When you used to make me melt,
and feel like I'm lighter than air,
giggle, and twirl my hair.
Ha! Just a memory,
And yet it makes me Oh so happy.
