The little yellow bird sings tentatively,
society had clipped her wings,
fear cages her,
ignorance shushes her.
All the little yellow bird can do,
is sing quietly yo herself.
A little yellow bird,
with clipped wings,
and a small cage,
cannot fly overhead, singing her song proudly.
A little yellow bird,
with clipped wings,
and a small cage,
cannot be heard by anyone.
A little woman with a yellow barrette,
pushed down,
afraid,
and ignored,
cannot change anything.
