I have hurt and love and anger looming in my past,
Lurking in each moment waiting for the breath that will be my last,
I keep picking myself up when falling to the ground,
But I wonder if I didn't get up if my body would be found,
I lay here in this darkened place not willing yet to leave,
And each passing moment is harder to believe,
The fire that's inside me has long grown dim,
Waiting for the moment to rekindle what's within,
Oh how I loved the roaring waves that crashed beneath the shore,
But I do not hear their thundering might quite like I did before,
If past is gone and over and done why does it keep haunting,
It's tangled lies and twisted ways grow ever so taunting,
Long we're the days I spent loving my life,
Never quite knowing of sorrow and strife, 
I hope that someday I will see,
Why such a thing has happened to me.
