Our Star
Here I lie,
Alone in the dark
Of my cold, empty room.
I wish for you
To be here beside me.
But, alas, we remain parted.
I miss you terribly.
But as I lie here
And look into the darkness
Beyond my window pane,
I spot a single star.
A star that shines bright
Against the black of the night.
And then I begin to wonder
If you might see the same star
Outside your window pane
And think of me too.
And somehow I know
That when I wish
On that one little star,
Everything I wish for us
Will come true.
And someday
We will look up
To the sky together
And say,
“That’s our star.”
