Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.

- Benjamin Franklin

Kindness, it’s a relative word
Not everybody's kind all the time, I know I’m not

Everyone that is living or has ever lived
Has some kindness in them

Think of the first truly evil person
That comes to your mind

I think of Adolph Hitler
He killed millions of people for a horrible reason

I think that deep down inside (you may need to stick a flashlight down his throat)
Everyone has some light in them, even if it’s artificial

Kindness is like a disease, a very good one
That spreads around when its not contained inside

But who says you should try to hold it back
Spread happiness and you’ll cancel out the evil

You may think it will be hard
Evil is death but also the eternal longing for power

And how can you beat power when you have none yourself
Well, I won’t lie to you, it’s not always going to be easy

You’re little brother destroys your science project
It’s hard to hold back, I know - I have two little sisters

But try your best to smile and avoid a bigger and worse situation
and you might just start a chain reaction

What is a chain reaction, you say
the Merriam Webster dictionary says it is

“A series of events so related to each other that each one initiates the next”
Rachel Scott knew that a chain reaction can spread kindness further than any one person

She tested that every day she was alive
And so will I.

I wrote this for a kindness competition for school after going to see a Rachel's Challenge presentation. Rachel Scott is the first person killed in the Columbine school shooting and my biggest hero.
