Burning
The slow-burning embers
 toil endlessly
 making sparks
 ricochet
 I sit beneath them
 waiting
 for the inevitable
 the spark latching on
 dissolving me
in fiery snakes of green and blue

 Soon
 the words of
 Dante, Shakespeare, Plato
 will be no more

 journalists' ideas
 on politics, wars, and laws
 shall be extinct

 the records of heroes
 of leaders and dreamers
 may dissipate

 I am paper
 Watch me burn
