Broken
Lying, broken, beaten,
As the rain pours down
And the blood spills out.
Thunder, lightning, rain,
Washing away my memories
As a steady “chink-chink” fills my mind.
Rolling over, head pounding.
Shattered glass litters the sidewalk.
Shattered, broken, forgotten,
Each shard filling with rainy
Ponds swirling with oily surfaces.
Frozen, icy chunks
Floating on the deep black surface
Of some drunken rage forgotten.
Grasping a shard, heart racing,
Shattered light glinting off the sidewalk.
Shaking, crying, raging,
As liquor stings cuts endured by
The jagged shard, smooth as her skin.
Glinting, shining glass
Mesmerizes me as light plays
Off her sultry green-gold surface.
I sit ready, shard to my wrist,
Praying for my angel to stop me.
